Brussels is not speculating with 2030 as the timing for Macedonia's entry into the EU

Brussels' assessment is that the war in Ukraine has moved the enlargement process in a positive way, and EU leaders are more committed to the integration of the Western Balkans.

Macedonia, European diplomats say, started the negotiations with the screening as the first phase, and due to the government's engagement on bilateral issues, the fact is that there is a lack of progress on other issues, including the rule of law, the fight against corruption, clean air, freedom of expression... and they put the constitutional amendments on stage again.

In Brussels, they are aware that it will be difficult to reach a two-thirds majority for the adoption of the constitutional amendments, because, as they say, "you have a difficult neighbor who constantly changed the demands towards North Macedonia", but the current agreement opens the way for the country, so they say "finally it is worth moving forward".

But no one wants to comment on the Macedonian Government's forecasts for 2030 as a realistic deadline for joining the Union, explaining that they never speculate on timing, but it is important that the country be ready.
