A Brazilian federal court judge has ordered an investigation into President Jair Bolsonaro for publishing false information in a video linking the Covid vaccine to AIDS.

The ruling by Judge Alejandro de Moraes, a member of Brazil's highest judicial body, was in response to a request by a Senate committee in October to accuse the Brazilian president of serious misconduct in a pandemic and five more investigations into Bolsonaro.

The subject of the new investigation is a video in which the far-right president quotes an alleged official report by the British government which "suggests" that people who are fully vaccinated against Covid-19 develop AIDS "much faster than usual".

The British government has denied the allegations through AFP, the Brazilian Society for Infectious Diseases and other health organizations.

The video was retrieved from Facebook, Instagram and YouTube.
