BRAVO GUYS: Macedonia outclassed Bulgaria for the finals of the European Championship and entry into the elite A division
Today in the key match for placement in the final of The European Championship – Division B in Skopje and entry into the elite A division, the Macedonian junior basketball team in SC "Boris Trajkovski" with 92:68 triumphed over Bulgaria. Thus, the juniors led by the coach Goran Andreevski recorded their seventh victory in a row at the European Championship.
Captain Janicic opened with 10 points (two triples without a miss), announced a new excellent offensive edition of our junior national team. After the triple and another conversion that came from Marjanovic, in the ninth minute, Macedonia took the lead with 24:15. But that was not the end of the scoring streak, it was the turn of Kyrilovski, who brought a double-digit lead (26:15) in the last minute of the first quarter.
But the last five points in this part of the game were given by the juniors of Bulgaria, to reduce our advantage (26:20). We started well in the second part of the game. With six points in a row (four by Trajanov), we returned the double-digit positive (32:20).
In the middle part of the quarter, the guests once again reduced the deficit to single digits, after reducing it to 27:35. But Lukanoski, after returning to the field, repelled that attack. And with four points in a row, he brought our selection back to the front, at 39:28. It was just an introduction to an even better finish in which we secured a lead of 15 points (53:38).
Our young basketball players continued at the same pace even after the big break. In less than 90 seconds, we separated at the highest 59:40. We maintained that high positivity for the next six. In the 28th minute, Macedonia led with 69:55. And once again the opponent had a good two minutes in which, with a series of (7-0), reduced our advantage to (69:62). When it was most needed, we answered, and how, with our counter-series of 10:0 with which we seriously separated, now at 79:62), and secured a place in the grand final, and entry into the "A" Division.
Our starting center, Lukanoski, achieved another double-double performance of 20 points and 16 rebounds, Janicic stopped at 17 points, Trajanov had the same number of points and recorded 11 rebounds, and Marjanovic contributed 12 points.
The opponent of our national selection "Under 18" years in the final on Sunday will be the better of the second semi-final match between Austria and Poland.
