Borel demanded new elections in the municipalities of the north of Kosovo

The High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Policy and Security, Josep Borel, also requested the calling of new local elections in the municipalities of the north of Kosovo, the participation of the Serbs in that electoral process and the beginning of the work to establish the Community of Municipalities with a Serbian majority.

Borel announced on Twitter last night that he discussed the "dangerous situation in the north of Kosovo" with the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, and the President of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani.

He stated that he had a joint meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, but also that he had separate meetings with Vucic and Osmani.

"We have three clear demands, which are new local elections immediately, ensuring the participation of Kosovo Serbs in the electoral process, starting work on establishing a Community of municipalities with a Serbian majority within the dialogue under the auspices of the EU... If this is not done, it will have serious consequences for our relations," he added in a statement after last night's meeting with the presidents of Serbia and Kosovo on the sidelines of the meeting of the European political community in Moldova.
