Bolsonaro left for Florida and left chaos on the streets of Brazil, pending a decision by Biden

After supporters of Jair Bolsonaro broke into Brazil's state institutions, the ball is in the court of the United States, where the former Brazilian president traveled two days before the end of his term on January 1. The right-wing president who tried to win a second term on October 30 was defeated by the leftist Luis Inacio Lula da Silva, and Bolsonaro traveled to Florida and thus avoided handing over power.

He left behind violent protests by his supporters in Brazil who do not believe in the election result. On Sunday, only two days after the anniversary of similar events in Washington, when supporters of Donald Trump stormed Congress, they stormed the presidential palace, Congress and the Supreme Court in Brazil.

US President Joe Biden is now under pressure to expel Bolsonaro from his self-imposed exile in suburban Orlando. "Bolsonaro should not be in Florida," Democratic Congressman Joaquin Castro told CNN.

"The United States must not be a haven for that authoritarian politician who encouraged domestic terrorism in Brazil. He should be returned to that country."

Castro added that Bolsonaro, a Trump supporter, "has inspired domestic terrorists according to Trump's playbook." Castro and others in American politics who share a similar opinion show that before Washington is a big decision about the future of the Brazilian politician.

Bolsonaro had bad relations with Biden, and after the end of his term in Brazil, he lost legal protection from criminal prosecution. The investigation could lead to his arrest or bar him from running again, Reuters reported last week. Four investigations were conducted against Bolsonaro even before the vandal attacks on Brazilian institutions.
