Bodiroga: Only one ABA club in the Euroleague, we'll see in two
The legendary Serbian basketball player Dejan Bodiroga, now first man of the Euroleague, was a guest in the diary of "TV Nova S" where he talked about the current topics when it comes to this sport.
Probably the most interesting are his statements related to ABA League, that is, whether the regional competition can have two representatives in the Euroleague in the future.
According to Bodiroga, it remains to be seen what the new format of the competition will bring:
- The Euroleague currently guarantees one place to the champion of the ABA League. Given the circumstances, because of everything that was happening with the Russian clubs, Partizan got a wild card. This region gave a lot to European basketball – ABA had three representatives, it was reduced to two, then to one. We need to find a balance, not just look at the markets, but find a balance that will satisfy everyone. We will certainly take care of this important region. Momentary what we can say – one representative from the ABA league. But we will see what the new competition format will bring in the future - said Bodiroga.
Macedonia again has a representative in the regional competition, our champion MZT Skopje Aerodrom, who started the season with a convincing defeat away to the current champion Crvena zvezda.
