American Secretary of State Anthony Blinken today congratulated the citizens of Albania on the 110th anniversary of independence and also the 100th anniversary of American-Albanian diplomatic relations and the broad, strong partnership.

- It is my honor to congratulate the independence in the name of the USA. The United States is proud to mark 100 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations. We are honored that the United States is working alongside Albania in the United Nations Security Council, as Albania continues to make a strong contribution on the global stage. Albania has shown leadership and courage by supporting Ukraine, while its contribution as a NATO ally helps the Alliance remain strong, ready and determined, the congratulatory statement said.

The US also "thanks Albania for its partnership and support in the resettlement of Afghans", congratulates it on "achieving the start of EU accession negotiations" and remains committed to providing support for the transatlantic route.

– We work together to fight corruption and organized crime, provide energy while advancing the common climate agenda for Europe and strengthen cyber defenses. Now that we are entering the second century of our relations, we are proud to stand side by side with the Albanian people, added Blinken's greeting card on the occasion of Albania's Independence Day.
