Blinken: The Russians have acquired and will likely use Iranian ballistic missiles within weeks
US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken confirmed that the Russians have already received Iranian-made ballistic missiles.
He said this in London at a joint press conference with British Foreign Minister David Lammy.
Blinken said that due to the arms transfer to Russia, Iran would inevitably face new sanctions, which would be introduced later.
"Russia has now received shipments of these ballistic missiles. We warned Tehran publicly, we warned Tehran privately, that taking this step would be a dangerous escalation," the US secretary of state said.
Additionally, according to Blinken, on Friday, September 13, US President Joe Biden will meet with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer to discuss whether Ukraine can strike deep into Russia with long-range weapons.
British Foreign Secretary David Lammy said he and Antony Blinken will visit Kiev together this week.
When asked if sending ballistic missiles to Russia could lead to further sanctions against Iran, the Iranian official replied that "it can't be worse than this".
The Group of Seven countries have previously vowed to impose coordinated sanctions against Iran if it supplies missiles to Russia.
