Bitici clarifies that the import of workers is not a long-term solution, but now we urgently need it

The Deputy Prime Minister Fatmir Bytyqi today he made another statement regarding the very current issue of the need to import foreign workers into the country, after the several seemingly contradictory views he has expressed on this issue these days. Today, in response to a journalist's question, he clarified that "the import of labor cannot be a long-term solution in any country, but the economy cannot wait for years for long-term solutions, but needs labor immediately."

Bitici said that employers, if they could, would offer a higher salary to attract the unemployed to accept the jobs offered in the labor market.

"In the last three years, wages have been higher than they were before, but the Employment Agency currently has 9.628 vacancies. "Just a week ago, 7.500 jobs were vacant," said Bitici, adding that 115.000 unemployed are registered in the Employment Agency.

Vacancies, according to Bitici, should be filled from there, but, unfortunately, they are not.

"In no country, the long-term solution is the import of labor, but the economy cannot wait for long-term solutions that are five to ten years." What will the economy do if these jobs are not filled for five years - it will mean the closing of companies. These jobs are open because they are needed for the companies to provide the primary activity for which they are registered," said Bitici.

He emphasized that the current situation with the workforce in the country is "a consequence of the work of some officials who started working in 1991".

"Probably there lies the answer to what we are talking about today. "I cannot be responsible for someone's behavior five, 10, 20 or 30 years ago," Bitici said.

Bitici: Many companies will close if we don't import labor
