Bislimoski: Block tariffs for electricity will be calculated on a daily basis

Marko Bislimovski, Energy Regulatory Commission / Morning briefing

Citizens do not have to worry if the accounting period for the issued invoice for electricity is longer than 30 days, because the calculations for which block tariff they enter, will be made on a daily basis, said the President of the Energy Regulatory Commission Marko Bislimoski.

- The first block tariff will be up to 210 kilowatt-hours spent in the expensive tariff in one month. But let the citizens not worry if, for example, instead of 30 days, the calculation deadline is 40 days. This does not mean that, due to the longer calculation period, they will enter the more expensive tariff. These 210 kilowatts are divided into 30 days, which means that the daily consumption at the lowest tariff is 7 kilowatt-hours. If the calculated period is 40 days, it means that they have the opportunity to enter the lowest tariff with 280 kilowatt-hours. Then above those kilowatts, consumption will be considered in the second tariff - explained Bislimoski.

He also announced that a new regulation is being prepared according to which Elektrodistribucija, instead of having the obligation to read the electricity meters once a year, will have the obligation to read them at least 4 times.

According to the current proposal that is still under consideration, there will be 4 block tariffs. The first block will apply to customers who consume up to 210 kilowatt hours of electricity at high tariffs, the second block will be for consumers consuming up to 420, the third from 421 to 630 and the fourth over 630 kilowatt hours at high tariff for one month. According to the proposal, the consumed electricity in the lowest block will be paid 35 percent cheaper than now, and those with consumed over 630 kilowatt hours of expensive electricity, will pay the price of electricity similar to industrial, ie that on the free market.
