German Foreign Minister Analena Berbock arrived in Kyiv this morning and called for more international support to protect Ukraine's skies from Russian airstrikes, DPA reported.

"To protect Ukraine from Russian missiles and drones, it urgently needs a strengthened air defense," she said at the start of her seventh visit to Ukraine since the outbreak of all-out war in February 2022.

Her trip was not announced for security reasons.

Berbok said Kiev's allies must "join forces" for Ukraine and prevent Russian President Vladimir Putin from sending troops to "our borders".

She noted that the German-led initiative aimed at strengthening Ukraine's air defenses has raised nearly one billion euros ($1 billion).
