The Belgian Prime Minister Alexander De Cro fell from his bicycle and briefly lost consciousness, and hospital tests did not show more serious injuries, the Belgian official news agency "Belga" reported on Sunday.

The incident happened when the 47-year-old de Kron was cycling with his son late Saturday afternoon near his home in the Flanders region, the agency said, citing the prime minister's office.

De Cro was unconscious for some time and was taken to the hospital for examinations, writes Belga.

In a video message posted on social media on Sunday, E Kro says he has returned home.

"Luckily I was wearing a helmet, and my son called an ambulance." Sports are good for your health. But sometimes you have to be a little careful," said De Cro in the message, thanking the medical staff and the people who wished him a speedy recovery.

It is not expected that the incident will affect the prime minister's schedule for next week, his office announced.
