The analyzes for freezing the prices of fruits and vegetables were completed yesterday, said the Minister of Economy Kreshnik Bekteshi before the start of the DUI Central Presidency. He pointed out that it was determined how some merchants in March placed margins on certain fruit and vegetable products up to 200%.

"The proposal of the Ministry of Economy will be freezing or determining the highest prices of fruits and vegetables, more than 10 fruit and vegetable products will be covered, taking into account the data for the month of March, where unfortunately it was determined that certain traders of these types of products so they had big margins up to 100% and 200%. Our information is that domestic production will increase by the end of April and the beginning of May, and of course this will have a positive effect. The Ministry of Economy, in cooperation with other institutions, is monitoring all developments in the area of ​​prices on a daily basis, and we will do our best in interest of consumers and citizens, especially in the month of Ramadan and on the eve of the Easter holidays", said Bekteshi

He added that the fruit and vegetable trade is a bit more specific, where larger margins are placed, but it cannot be up to 200%.

"So with regard to other products, we have already published all the analyses, we will probably hold a press conference in the Government, where through a presentation we will inform the public about the average price, which was especially in the month of March, and the citizens and you yourself, bearing in mind that you know what the prices are, you could make a comparison yourself. But the trade of fruits and vegetables is done in a different way than other products, because the term is much shorter, the margin is always higher, but it cannot be up to 200%, said Bekteshi.
