At the moment, there is no need to declare a crisis in the energy sector, said today the Minister of Economy Kreshnik Bekteshi, emphasizing that by the end of the year there will be no increase in the price of electricity for households.

- There will be no big price shocks and I am convinced of that. We will intervene wherever necessary so that there are no such price shocks. I do not believe that we will be in such a situation in January, said Bekteshi at today's press conference after the session of the Commission for Electricity Crisis, adding that from now on no one can guarantee whether there will be a price increase after the New Year, because it is a global crisis that is reflected on our power grid.

Bektesti pointed out that the second unit of REK "Bitola" is already working, which hopes that by the end of the day it will work at full capacity, and a letter has already been sent to the chambers of commerce for procurement of fuel oil in case TEC Negotino needs to be included. ”. The Minister hopes that the tender for procurement of coal for the needs of the third unit of REK "Bitola" will be successful, which, according to his estimates, would start working in three to four weeks. If the tender for the third block of REK "Bitola" is not successful, then Bekteshi announced another meeting of the Commission and added that AD ESM has the right to buy electricity from abroad.

The government declares a crisis in the energy sector on the proposal of the Commission for Electricity Crisis, headed by the Minister of Economy. In case a crisis situation is declared, there is a set of measures, some of which are the so-called soft measures, and some are measures that would be adopted by the Government, such as the measure when and how much to use street lighting.

The Commission for Electricity Crisis is composed of five expert members, a representative of the largest producer of electricity - AD ESM, holders of licenses for electricity generation, transmission - MEPSO, distribution - EVN, Energy Regulatory Commission and the Ministry of Economy .

- Its goal is constant monitoring, analysis and assessment of the energy situation in the country. Her first meeting took place today, and as Bekteshi said, she hopes that there will be no need to convene it again.
