Biden gave the green light for the entry of Sweden and Finland into NATO

The President of the United States, Joe Biden, today signed the instruments of ratification of the NATO accession protocols for the Republic of Finland and the Kingdom of Sweden.

On this occasion, State Secretary Anthony Blinken called on the remaining member states of the Alliance to ratify the protocols.

- We are satisfied with the rapid progress of Finland and Sweden becoming allies in NATO. There is strong, federal and bipartisan support for the membership applications of Finland and Sweden, and I look forward to their speedy entry into the strongest defense alliance in history, Blinken said.

He added that NATO remains committed to its open door policy and to strengthening bilateral defense and security cooperation.
