The reactions of the public do not subside for the monument of the prematurely deceased Macedonian singer Tose Proeski, who was solemnly unveiled in Nova Gradiska on Saturday.

Proeski died 14 years ago in a car accident on the highway near Nova Gradiska, and the monument was made by the sculptor Slavko Bunic.

Many agree that the statue does not look like the singer at all, and in a way the sculptor Bunic agrees with this criticism, write the Croatian media.

- I understand that people are dissatisfied. At first glance, I did not see any resemblance - admits Bunic. But Bunic is a criticthem shifts to the media, arguing that the problem is in photography on which does not show the details.

- A bad photo is circulating in the public, the camera was bothered by the sunshine, so the photo is blurred. It is a white stone, a little too bright and the similarity is not visible - says Bunic.

"Statues do not have to show real resemblance because for such a thing they have to be made of blood and flesh" is his response to numerous criticisms.

Slavko Bunic says that he is a big fan of the Macedonian nightingale.

Otherwise, this follows the numerous criticisms about the similarity of the monument and the character of Tose. Shortly after the monument was unveiled, an avalanche of dissatisfied comments.

"The intention is good, but the statue does not look like Tose at all," one commenter wrote.
"It is good that it says that it is Tose."
"If this is Tose, then I am Plenkovic."
"I wish I could see the faces of the people when the mayor took off the sheet and showed the statue."

"Macedonians would not recognize him either."
"His family should be compensated for this 'act'."

Otherwise, on the solemn unveiling of the monument The sculptor Slavko Bunic was attended by Milaim Fetai, the Ambassador of Northern Macedonia, the Mayor of Nova Gradiska, Vinko Grgic and the Mayor of Krushevo, Tome Hristovski.

Mayor Grgic said that an accident made two peoples, Macedonian and Croatian, and two municipalities, Krusevo and Nova Gradiska, meet and cooperate thanks to the songs of the popular Macedonian pop singer, Tose Proeski.
