Methane buses garaged, JSP account blocked, chaos continues
On the streets of Skopje, citizens again feel the serious lack of buses, despite the fact that some private carriers have joined with a small number of buses. After the bus stations, they wait for a bus again after at least half an hour.
For two days, part of the buses on lines 24, 5, 15 did not run, and today the citizens did not even receive the vehicle on line 60 that leads to and from Matka. We are talking about the "man" buses, which use methane as fuel, and according to the information received from the unions in JSP, they cannot fill up with methane because the company is unable to pay its debt to the supplier due to a blocked account.
Director Dragi Kushovski recently admitted that the account was blocked, but in the meager statement given before the extraordinary session of the Council of the City of Skopje, he did not explain anything.
The account is currently blocked, the account is being unblocked. The account has been blocked for a few days due to a debt to an oil supplier - said Kushovski, but he did not want to specify how much the oil debt is, and when asked how the account will be unblocked, he said briefly, "There is a way."
But apparently a way was not found because almost two weeks have passed since then, and now even the methane buses cannot refuel.
On the streets of Skopje, citizens again feel the serious lack of buses, despite the fact that some private carriers have joined with a small number of vehicles. How insignificant their presence is at the moment, together with the absence of the 30 or so CNG buses, is shown by the crowd at the bus stations, where Skopje citizens wait for a bus again after at least half an hour.
At the same time, there is no information from JSP, and usually not even from the City of Skopje, how long this situation will last, and how long the buses that are in good condition, but without fuel, will remain in the garages.
Pensioners, on the other hand, are worried that from next year they will not be able to ride the bus for free on Tuesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays because their attempts to extend their free tickets and the tickets they pay at a preferential price of 300 denars per month with days are wasted.
I've been trying to get the card authorized for next year for two weeks before the ticket renewal crowds catch up, but I can't. The ticket offices reply to me that they have not received such notification from the management. I asked them if they were going to cancel our free transportation, but I didn't get an answer other than a shrug of the shoulders - a pensioner from Skopje told us worriedly.
Today, after the frequent reactions and fears of the older residents of the capital, the Party of Pensioners announced that for the pensioner standard, the right to use public transport is one of the best decisions for the advancement of several segments, in not many the bright retired everyday life.
We invite the most responsible institutions in the Government and in the Council of the City of Skopje to consider in detail and solve all the open issues and problems in this segment and to bring appropriate positive and practical solutions, which will continue with the previous good practice for the benefit of all pensioners, but of course also for pupils and students in the capital. Caring for the numerous, young and elderly population in Skopje is not only the best long-term political investment of all political entities in our country, but it is also their basic obligation, which they all declared in their political platforms and pre-election promises - the party announced.
From the JSP, as is the "order", there is no answer as to why pensioners still cannot renew their tickets and when they will be able to do so.
Soon, the Council of the City of Skopje should hold a session where, among other things, the subsidies for this company for the coming year, which are spent on salaries, should be on the agenda. It is not yet known what the amount will be this year, but surely it will not affect the reduction of transportation problems, the consequences of which are suffered by the citizens.
