Russian state oil giant Rosneft has confirmed that former Austrian Foreign Minister Karin Kneisl, whose wedding was also attended by Russian President Vladimir Putin in 2018, has left the company's board of directors.

Rosneft said in a statement on May 23 that Kneisel had resigned three days earlier and would not seek to renew his position on the board for a second term. RFE.

Her resignation comes after former German Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder left the committee under pressure from Bundestag lawmakers to cut off his office and taxpayer-funded staff because of his close ties to Russia and the Putin regime.

Kneisl was appointed to Rosneft's board of directors as an independent director in July 2021.

The move was immediately criticized at a time when the European Union was in "conflict" with Russia over many issues.

Kneisl has already made headlines about Russia when her pictures with Putin from her 2018 wedding were published by a number of world media.

Putin was a special guest at the wedding and even danced with the bride. Kneisl left the Austrian government in 2019.
