Afghan President Ashraf Ghani has ousted the defense and interior ministers, as well as the chief of staff of the Afghan army, amid rising casualties among security forces during clashes with Taliban insurgents.

The changes were made late last night, right after Afghan forces have clashed with the Taliban in 28 of the country's 34 provinces.

The new acting Minister of Defense is Bislima Khan Mohammadi, which is placed in place nand Asadullah Khalid, while Abdul Sattar Mirzakwal was elected Minister of Interior instead of Hiatullah Hayat.

The general Wali Mohammed Ahmadzai is set for new Chief of Afghan Army General Staff replacing General Yassin Ziya.
