Arsovska: ZELS is being politicized for party interests for the first time

The mayor of the City of Skopje, Danela Arsovska, believes that her dismissal from the position of president of the Community of Local Self-Government Units is perhaps the best case for confirmation of the coalition between VMRO-DPMNE and SDSM, who, according to her, jointly decided that someone else should take her place. led by ZELS.

Arsovska, in an interview for MIA, points out that for the first time this function is being politicized and the party's interests are being put before the interests of the local self-government, by creating a precedent that will be very difficult and problematic to overcome in the future, and an established practice is being removed. which until now has been respected by party interests.

- Despite the fact that I believe that so far in the work we have done at ZELS, there have been no setbacks, everything that we as the Board of Directors have taken as decisions has been respected, all decisions have been taken consensually and with the support of all those concerned at that table, they decided that it was important for the person who will lead ZELS to be a representative of the political party that won the most seats in these elections, Arsovska emphasizes.

Regarding the influence in the city council of all this and how she functions without the support of the majority of the councilors, considering that after her election she was supported by the coalition led by VMRO-DPMNE, Arsovska says that the councilors have responsibility to work primarily in the interest of citizens.

No one pays attention to whether in the water supply section, in the sewage section, in the section everything that is necessary for the citizens to have a quality life, whether all standards are observed and therefore with

- It is necessary to realize what was promised in the pre-election and for which the trust was given by the citizens. It is the program for a modern Skopje, which practically brings about 300 proposals that should be implemented in the interest of all residents of the city of Skopje, so that their lives will be better and more functional. What we have seen so far is that the Council itself acts perhaps under certain party orders, although I think that each of the councilors should decide with their own conscience and act in the direction of realizing everything that they have promised to the citizens, yes not be guided by party commitments or policies, the mayor emphasized.

As a last example, she pointed to the case when at the last session of the Council of Skopje, the councilors did not vote on the proposal to borrow the City of Skopje for the purchase of 50 ecological buses.

According to her, in this case the councilors did not vote for what they themselves offered and supported before entering their positions.
