The City of Skopje plans to introduce free transportation for high school students during the summer vacation, so that they can more easily perform extracurricular activities.

The councilors of the city council will be able to declare in favor of the continuation of the last session the proposal of the mayor Danela Arsovska for amending the Program for the activities of the City of Skopje in the field of secondary education in 2022, where one of the proposed changes is free transportation for secondary school students.

So, for organizing and implementing the free school transport, instead of the foreseen 42 million denars, it is proposed to allocate 92 million, that is, 50 million denars more, which, as stated, would be provided from several items from the city budget.

In this way, with funds from the Basic Budget of the City of Skopje, it is possible to use free public transportation for all students from secondary schools of the City of Skopje during the entire summer vacation. The free student transportation will improve and facilitate the performance of the numerous extracurricular activities of the students, their obligations to attend practical training, for additional and preparatory teaching and for other sports activities and movement needs. At the same time, this project further eases the burden on the family budgets of all students enrolled in secondary schools in the City of Skopje - it is said in the explanation of the proposed changes to the Program.

With this amendment, the total amount planned in the area of secondary education will change from 82 MKD to 600 MKD, of which 000 million would be allocated for free transportation.
