"Good afternoon, Ministry of Internal Affairs / Минistria e Punëve të Brendshme, we would like to inform you that the persons who some time ago inflicted serious bodily injuries on the inspectors from the city of Skopje, due to which our employees ended up in the Emergency Center, the persons who committed violence with a physical attack with metal bars because they were caught creating a landfill and setting it on fire on Skupi Street, are still at large. The same gang that has been caught repeatedly committing acts that endanger the environment and the health of citizens, continue with their activities continuously supplemented with violence and threats," Arsovska wrote.
She asked for help from the people of Skopje to ensure justice is served to the fullest extent.
"Anyone else caught for the same acts would have been promptly brought to justice by now and punished by a court verdict for poisoning us every day. Since official reports are not acted upon, I call on all Skopje residents to report the incident and demand justice!!!
She boasted that the city of Skopje has cleaned up over 300 landfills. "Only we can act for a cleaner city," Arsovska added.
"Over 300 illegal landfills have been cleaned and so far only the City of Skopje reacts daily, while the others do not act even though they have a legal obligation to do so. In addition to the Inspectorate of the City of Skopje, there are a total of 14 institutions in the city that have the authority and obligation to act in cases of environmental pollution and endangering the health of citizens, including the Ministry of Environment, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the State Inspectorate for Environment, the State Construction Inspectorate, and the inspection services of the 10 municipalities in the city of Skopje. Last year, the City of Skopje filed several criminal charges for dumping and burning hazardous waste and endangering the environment, for criminal liability against perpetrators found dumping hazardous waste, asbestos sheets and other construction waste, including hazardous carcinogenic waste in the green belt, which disfigures the city and endangers the life and health of Skopje residents. The inspectors of the City of Skopje continue with the intensified inspection supervision on the field 24 hours a day, with the aim of reducing air pollution and protecting the environment. Fines are imposed indiscriminately for all those who do not respect the law, pollute the environment and endanger the health of citizens. In the past year, the City of Skopje has had more supervisions and fines than all other municipalities combined, and fines ranging from 9 to 100 thousand euros have been imposed for legal entities and appropriate fines against individuals who are caught creating illegal landfills, burning them and violating the law, Arsovska wrote.
