Danela Arsovska, the mayor of the City of Skopje, says her predecessor Petre Shilegov has no right to complain about the polluted air, after he reacted on social networks last night.

Sensors measuring harmful particles in the capital have gone purple. They showed three to four times more than allowed.

- That should not be allowed. Skopje has the highest pollution rate in Europe, and he has the opportunity to comment in just four years, leaving everything in the wind as a systemic measure. The City of Skopje is taking a whole set of complementary measures to contribute to not facing the polluted air as we have faced so far, says Arsovska.

She added that the City of Skopje has started thorough cleaning of illegal landfills and for the first time there are draconian penalties for those who endanger the lives of citizens.
