Mayor Danela Arsovska will again try to get the green light from the councilors for the purchase of ecological buses. On the agenda of the next session of the Council, which is scheduled for April 30, there will again be the same proposed decision that was not voted two months ago - for long-term indebtedness of the City of Skopje to a domestic bank for the purchase of new buses. The loan that would be taken for this purpose is in the amount of 620 million euros, and the City of Skopje would repay it with money from the City Budget.

In order to further encourage the vision of a modern Skopje, enabling easily accessible and modern public transport, while leading care for the quality of life and the environment, our obligation and priority in the operation is to invest in eco buses in order to perform public transport more efficiently. By adopting this decision, the City of Skopje will be able to purchase eco-buses through domestic long-term borrowing - says the explanation of the proposed decision.

For the first time, the Council of the City of Skopje did not accept Arsovska's proposal for the purchase of new ecological buses through long-term credit borrowing in one of the domestic banks for the sum of 620 million denars, that is, about 10 million euros. 15 councilors voted for the proposal, one was against, and 18 abstained, which was not enough to pass such a decision. Neither now nor then was it specified how many buses could be purchased with that credit, nor from which manufacturer, which was the reason for many of the councilors to refrain from supporting the proposed decision.

Recently, the mayor stated that she will not give up on the purchase of eco-buses and stressed that the fifty buses will be an item on the Council's agenda until the councilors vote on it.
