Inter's Cameroonian goalkeeper Andre Onana made an unexpected decision to end his representative career immediately after the end of World Cup in Qatar.

Onana was kicked out of the national team just a few hours before the match against Serbia at the World Cup due to alleged disagreements with head coach Rigober Song.

The problem stemmed from a heated disagreement with the technical team over his style of play, in which he was asked to be less eccentric in his approach.

Onana informed the public via social media that he was ending his international career despite being only 26 years old, saying that "his story with the Cameroon national team has come to an end".

In 2016, Onana made his debut, representing his country 36 times, and his last match was a 1-0 defeat against Switzerland in the 2022 World Cup opener. He missed the matches against Brazil and Serbia, as Cameroon finished the competition in the group stage.
