Andonovski: Only we in the region do not have a law on cyber security
The Minister of Digital Transformation, Stefan Andonovski, in the show "Trilling" on tv24, spoke about his engagement in the first 100 days of the Government, which he assessed as successful.
Andonovski emphasized that he had many meetings with ministers for digital transformation from EU member states, where the work of the ministry, projects and services provided by the ministry, as well as support for the state to become a member of the European Union, were discussed at those meetings.
- Macedonia is the only country in the wider region that does not have a law for the protection of information systems, or the so-called Cyber Security Law. Unfortunately, we do not have any minimum standard that every institution should follow. Otherwise, that institution should be responsible, if it does not do that - said Andonovski.
The minister added that the institutions, because they are not responsible for their consequences to protect themselves from cyber attacks, did not try in the past to create or buy security protection software.
- This depends on each institution, how self-aware it is, or the head of an institution, to know that the equipment he acquired does not have or has the necessary licenses for protection. And that's scary. If your system does not have the necessary protection software or an anti-virus program, no one will punish you, nor if you follow the law - clarified Andonovski.
