
US federal judge orders USAID to continue operating
A US federal judge has ordered the Donald Trump administration to lift a three-month ban on the US foreign aid agency, USAID, from funding various projects, citing the enormous damage done to non-profit organizations and other institutions that implement US aid in other countries.

As reported by "The Guardian", the decision is in response to a lawsuit filed by two non-governmental organizations - the AIDS Vaccine Advocacy Coalition and the Global Health Council, which are health institutions funded by US funds for work abroad.
The court decision is the second such ruling against the Trump administration, which is making efforts to drastically reduce the US state apparatus and is trying to abolish the six-decade-old United States Agency for International Development (USAID), which Trump and his ally Elon Musk say is not in line with Trump's agenda.
The decision, issued last night by Amir Ali, a district judge in Washington, is the first of its kind against the sudden and complete halt to USAID funding for programs abroad.
Contractors, farmers, and suppliers in the United States and many foreign countries have been left without hundreds of millions of dollars in work already completed, leading to mass layoffs in those businesses.
