A mother from Utah, USA, who shared parental advice on strict parenting on YouTube, has been sentenced to four years in prison for child abuse, reports BBC.

Ruby Franke (42) tearfully apologized in front of the court. She previously pleaded guilty to starving and abusing her own children. She received a minimum of four years in prison, and Franke will have 30 days to appeal the decision.

In court, Utah Attorney General Eric Clark said the two children, then aged nine and 11, lived in a "concentration camp-like environment" and called the mother a threat to the community.

"The children were regularly denied food, water, were not allowed to sleep on beds and were banned from all forms of entertainment," Clark said.

Franke defended in court that she was made to believe in evil things.

"I was led to believe that this world is an evil place, full of controlling cops, hospitals that hurt, government agencies that brainwash, church leaders that lie, husbands that refuse to protect us and children that need abuse," he said. she.

Franke was arrested along with her business partner in August 2023 after her malnourished 12-year-old son jumped from the window of the house. Police said the child then ran to a neighbor's house and asked for food and water. He had injuries from being tied up with a rope.

The arrests thus marked the end of her controversial YouTube career. Franke has more than two million subscribers to her channel, which she started in 2015, where she shares advice on strict parenting.
