The Ambassador of Ukraine to Serbia, Volodymyr Tolkach, reiterated today that the position of official Kyiv on the issue of Kosovo has not changed, that is, that Ukraine does not recognize Kosovo as an independent state, but expressed gratitude for the support and assistance from Pristina, reported the MIA correspondent from Belgrade. .

"Official Kyiv's position on the issue of Kosovo does not change, but at the same time we express our gratitude for Pristina's position regarding the war in Ukraine and the provision of aid. "We have always been stable in terms of foreign policy and we have always supported every country within the internationally recognized borders," Tolkach told RTK.

When it comes to the dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina, the Ukrainian ambassador said that the most important thing is to seek a compromise.

"Speaking from the position of Ukraine, we have been following the path of compromise defending our country for 23 years, but we have not managed to avoid this bloody war. So as far as the compromise is concerned, I don't know if it can be reached. On the other hand, a compromise should be sought until the last moment," the ambassador pointed out.

When asked about the sanctions against Russia, which the EU and the West demand from Serbia, Tolkach said that it would be good for "Serbia to defend European values together with Ukraine".

"Ukraine and Serbia have a common goal, which is integration into the EU. "I cannot expect and insist that Serbia impose sanctions on Russia, but we would be grateful if the newly formed Serbian government would go with us on the path we chose together, which is the path to the EU," added the Ukrainian ambassador.
