The Albanian Government has changed its mind, so the decision, which was supposed to come into effect today, will not apply to those who spend more than 800 kilowatt hours a month paying more expensive electricity.

Prime Minister Edi Rama, in today's online communication with the citizens, stated the reasons why the decision was withdrawn, which according to him, it is possible to start applying it from next month, which depends on how much the citizens themselves will save in consumption as well as the hydrological conditions.

- We decided to postpone the application of the decision for two reasons: the first element is the precipitation. We had heavy rains, which increased the level of artificial reservoirs in the hydroelectric plants. The second element is the saving trend that has caused the need for energy to be lower than forecast. Taking into account these two elements, we assessed that we can continue to meet the need for electricity, said Rama.

On the 24th of last month, following the proposal of the government, the Energy Regulatory Office approved a 4,4 times increase in the price of energy for households that consume more than 800 kilowatts of electricity per month, i.e. instead of 9,5 Lek, the price should have been 42 Lek per kilowatt hour.

This decision was supposed to apply until December 31 of this year.
