The Albanian police, in cooperation with the Guarda di Finanza and Frontex, prevented the smuggling of about one ton of marijuana.

Three Albanian citizens were arrested in the operation, and one is being sought, all residents of Valona, ​​aged 19 to 33. As well as two Ukrainian citizens, aged 43 and 67.

They will answer before the court in Valona.

"In the operation 'Siri' (eye), which was carried out by land, water and air, 250 police officers were engaged. 992 kilograms of marijuana, three motor boats, two passenger motor vehicles and several mobile phones were seized. "The Italian police provided a great help in the operation with the timely information about the movement of the boats that were intercepted in the sea," the Albanian police reported.

Meanwhile, the media reported that in two separate operations, the Greek police seized 377 kilograms of marijuana in the border zone with Albania, from where the drug was smuggled.
