Albania: Hackers demand $ 300.000 to return archives to national TV

Albanian Radio and Television (RTS) was attacked by hackers, who demanded $ 300 to return the archive.

RTSH servers were attacked by as yet unidentified individuals through a hacking system called ransomware about two weeks ago.

- The hackers managed to encrypt the database of the state radio and television, through the online network. They asked for 300 thousand dollars to return the material to the Albanian radio and television and to decipher it, but RTS refused to pay, because most of the database Fortunately, the data was copied to an offline backup, reports Top Channel.

According to the same source, as a result of this attack, only part of the digital archive of Radio Tirana was damaged. The rest of the television archive has been found.

This is the second cyber-attack in a few days on the official websites of Albanian public institutions. Earlier, the server of the Ministry of Interior and the complaint service were the target of a hacker attack.
