Currently, nine fires are active in the country, the heaviest of which is in the Osogovo Mountains, which is on inaccessible terrain, and new fires have been registered in the territories of Ohrid and Skopje, says the director of CMC Stojanche Angelov in a video message.

-Unfortunately, even today in Ilinden, there are nine open fires and forest fires raging on the territory of the state. The fire in the Osogovo mountains, which is raging on the territory of the Municipality of Probishtip, in the atar of the village of Zelengrad, because it is taking place in an extremely difficult to access terrain and has been giving us a headache for several days, although we have operated on several occasions in aircraft, we have also operated from the ground, today we decided to attack it with a concentrated number of helicopters. During this morning, but also during the rest of the day, we will operate here with eight helicopters - three Macedonian (two army and one police), one Serbian, two Hungarian, one Slovenian and one Czech - said Angelov.

He stated that there is also a heavy fire in the municipality of Makedonski Brod, in the area of ​​the villages of Taževo and Breznica, towards Jasen, which has been going on for several days in difficult-to-access terrain.

- Here this morning we sent the police helicopter MI 171 to act, as well as the team from Hungary that arrived as help from abroad with the EU mechanism, consisting of 46 experienced firefighters, some of whom use special off-road vehicles with which they can break into the most difficult to access places . Also, 50 members of the Army with the support of 20 local firefighters and the local population are extinguishing the fire from the ground - says Angelov.

According to him, it is difficult to put out the fire on Ilinska Planina, where three tractors intervened this morning, and it is also being done from the ground.

There is another fire in Probishtip, where the Army operates with the support of the local population.

In Plasnica, the fire has been brought under control and efforts are being made to put it out, and also the fire in a pine forest in Pehchevo is under complete control as of this morning and efforts are being made to put out the fire spots.

Before long, a strong fire broke out in the territory of the Municipality of Ohrid, in the atar of the village of Kosel, which is in danger of entering a pine forest, which is why the CMC diverted a helicopter there.

There are also fires in the territory of Skopje - in the municipality of Zelenikovo and near the village of Ljubanci.

- The plan that we prepare for the use of aircraft, but also other foreign aid and domestic forces, is flexible and we adapt it to the current situation. Unfortunately, this summer we have a record number of fires. During July, as many as 620 outdoor fires and forest fires, of which 611 were extinguished. The record was on July 29, when we had 66 fires in one day - says Angelov.

He thanked all the countries that help us in fighting the fires, as well as domestic pilots, firefighters, members of the police and army and volunteers.
