Active fire in Drisla, 28 open fires registered yesterday alone

The fire at the Skopje landfill Drisla, which broke out yesterday, is currently still active, according to the Crisis Management Center.

They say that yesterday alone, a total of 28 fires were registered in open spaces.

– All fires started from stubble (agricultural land on which crop residues or borders overgrown with grass, thorns, bushes, etc. are burned), the CMC announced this morning.

Since the beginning of March, as of yesterday, a total of 484 large-scale open space fires have been registered. Of these, 23 were forest fires, and the remaining 461 open space fires involved tall dry grass, stubble, low-growing and degraded forest, as well as garbage dumps.
