A man who was surfing in Hawaii was killed by a shark

A professional lifeguard has died after being attacked by a shark while surfing off the Hawaiian island of Oahu, authorities said.

Professional lifeguard Tamayo Perry (49) was attacked by a shark near the island of Oahu on Sunday, the rescuers carried him to the shore, but the ambulance could only pronounce him dead, the emergency service said. AP.

Perry had been working as a lifeguard since July 2016 and was highly regarded, according to the US agency.

After the attack, authorities issued a shark alert in the area.
