The Film Agency canceled the competition for financing film projects for 2024, which means that no Macedonian films will be shot with state support this year.

The decision to cancel, made on October 30, is based on "irregularities and illegalities in the process of conducting the competition".

"The specific tender is annulled due to the fact that with the initiation and implementation of it, it was determined that there are irregularities and illegalities in actions", the decision reads.

The reasons for the cancellation include untimely decisions on the notified projects, which were not made either in April or after the extended deadline, which is in violation of the legal deadlines.

Also, there were internal acts that were not in line with the project evaluation laws, and there were ambiguities regarding the deadlines and criteria for applications. Due to these problems, the Agency considered that the further implementation of the competition would be legally disputed, so it canceled it in its entirety.
