The Montenegrin Prime Minister in technical mandate, Dritan Abazovic, said that the USA is the most important foreign policy partner of Podgorica and that the US President Joe Biden can save the Western Balkans from falling under Russian and Chinese influence.

In an interview for The Pavlovic Today, he said that corruption is a generator of nationalism, the Montenegrin media reported today.

– My message for Biden is simple. President Biden should use executive orders to sanction individuals involved in high-level corruption in the Western Balkans. It is the best and simplest way for President Biden to save the Western Balkans, Abazovic pointed out.

As he added, if the region goes in the direction of nationalism and conflict, it will become an easy target for foreign influence.

- Regardless of whether it is Russian or Chinese influence, if Biden believes that this foreign influence should be prevented, he must sanction people. That would be enough to stop the political actors who are leading Montenegro and the region down that path, underlined the Prime Minister of Montenegro.

When asked if the recent cyber-attacks on the government's IT infrastructure coincidentally happened at the same time as the current political events in Montenegro, or if someone tried to test the country, he replied that he does not believe that anything happens by chance when it comes to serious political events.

- Destabilization favors those who do not want to see the rule of law, those who still want to see instability in the Western Balkans. The cyber-attack happened the next day, in the evening, after the vote of no confidence in the Government. It is the biggest attack on our infrastructure that we have ever had. At this moment we cannot say that Russia is behind that attack, nor do we want to claim it, but experts from the FBI, Great Britain and France are investigating the case. We are waiting for the final report, clarified the Montenegrin Prime Minister.
