Abazovic: Early elections as soon as possible, but according to the legal order

The Prime Minister of Montenegro, in a technical mandate, Dritan Abazovic stated that he agrees with the views that early elections should be held as soon as possible, but believes that this should happen through a "legal procedure" and that the "correct way" is to shorten the mandate of the Parliament of Montenegro.

In an interview with Voice of America, Abazovic assesses that the President's Decree Milo Djukanovic to dissolve the Parliament and schedule elections for June 11 is not in accordance with that procedure, because he must pass the decree on the basis of some previous decisions.

"Those decisions should follow the decisions of the parliament, that is, the parliamentary majority." Otherwise, he could have issued that decree in August of last year, or any day last year or this year, and not three days before the first round of presidential elections, when his work is being checked considering that he is one of the candidates." said Abazovic, who is visiting the United States.
