The Slovenian Institute of Public Health (NHIH), in co-operation with Belgian health authorities, is investigating the tragic death of the wife of a Slovenian diplomat in Brussels, who suffered a venous thrombosis after vaccination and died of a stroke in hospital after being in critical condition for several days. .

The woman, under the age of 40, was vaccinated ten days ago with the "Johnson & Johnson" vaccine, which is given in a single dose, and she experienced the first difficulties after a few days.

According to Slovenian television, she first suffered a headache and swelling in her leg, and at a medical examination she was diagnosed with deep vein thrombosis, after which she suffered a stroke and died in hospital a few days later in critical condition.

The National Institute of Public Health has launched a procedure to determine whether complications and death are related to vaccination, ie the possible adverse effects of the vaccine. This is now being investigated by an expert commission at the Ministry of Health, which points out that all the information they will receive from the Belgian health authorities will be important in assessing the case.

Johnson & Johnson, as well as AstraZeneka, is a vector vaccine that has been shown to cause blood clots in extremely rare cases. This has been confirmed by the European Medicines Agency (EMA), which continues to monitor such cases.
