Among the captives from the Azovstal steel plant in Mariupol are 78 women, the pro-Russian separatist leader said.
The Russian news agency TASS reported that the leader of the separatists from Donetsk, Denis Pushilin, stated that there are foreigners among those captured in Azovstal. He did not say how many foreigners were captured.
"They had enough food and water, as well as weapons," Pushilin told TASS.
"Their problem was the lack of medicines and medical supplies," he said in a statement about Ukrainian forces who had been resisting at the steel plant for almost a month.
